( it takes her closer to twenty minutes to make her way to the cafeteria. slow going and begging off for the restroom -- cramps, things like that, she's got a plethora of legitimate excuses at the time.
at least the lights are on again. collette rolls into the cafeteria, looking around for a shaggy head of hair she associates with someone who's been willingly ignoring her for a while. )
(He's there, shaggier than usual, even. His eyes are dull and dark and slightly sunken, but they spark slightly with recognition when he sees her. His acknowledgement is a nod. Yes, he's Stan. And apparently he's having difficulty forming verbal sounds at the moment.)
Collette approaches, looking tired as well, but better off than Stan. "You look like heck," she comments, lips curling up into a lopsided smile. "I think most of us feel that way."
Stopping at the table end, she offers a slightly steadier smile. "Have you eaten anything? We're supposed to use the fresh stuff before it goes bad."
"There's food?" Well, shit. The werewolf thing can wait a few minutes. His mouth is watering just at the suggestion.
It's not that Giovanni starved him or anything, it's just that supplies were a little scarce. It was really tough for a growing kid to live on rationed portions. He couldn't remember the last time he hadn't gone to sleep hungry, but it must've been before the hospital. Understandably, Stan was a little distracted by the offer.
He can teleport? [What a terrible thing to learn. Either way, she sidles in now while the getting is good.] Never mind why... it's just I have something to tell you, Collette.
[But her face isn't too cloudy! So it can't be so bad.]
"Yeah, they didn't want us to starve right off, you know. When'd you last eat?" She gestures for him to stand, rolling off toward the storage cupboards in the kitchen proper. The doors leading in to the kitchens are propped open, for easier and and out access. Plates and bowls and cups are in evidence on countertops, and at the far end, a bowl of apples.
"Yesterday." She doesn't need to gesture twice, he follows willingly. And pockets an apple before he even sees what else is on offer, because there's someone he needs to bring a little back for.
Oh! Oh, he's a sharp guy. You'll watch each other's backs, I'm sure it'll be fine! Besides... you're from Japan, aren't you? It's got to be nice to see it again, no matter the time period.
She nods, though she also frowns. "Where were you?" is her next question, looking at all of him. "I didn't see you with the last group brought up... when did you get here?"
I'm excited to see it again! [If rather neutral to down-in-the-mouth about the company.] It's gonna be nice... it'll even be around my time. I'm so happy! I'll get to speak Japanese.
"I wasn't." He mumbles that part quietly, sure there will be questions to follow. Which is fine, but if they're getting serious now...
"Uh, look. I just came to make sure-uh. The thing is, when you got sick that day, I...saw. Okay? I saw. And then that weird kid got attacked and I thought you might need...I don't know. Something. "
Hahaha, and not have it all need to be translated... you should teach me some one day! I can at least learn to say hello in Japanese. Be careful, okay?
